This site is many things. Among them is a somewhat convoluted point about the value of constraints. This site contains no JavaScript at all, and a small amount of static HTML files assembled by a custom static site generator. The site is also perfectly functional and mostly coherent in text-only browsers like w3m or lynx.

Influence

I am entranced by inventive design schemes of old PC-98 games. These were DOS games sold in Japan, and around the NEC9800 formed a strong community of hobbyists, artists and enthusiasts who took the limitations of the platform and ran with them, creating some of the most beautiful interfaces and game artwork I've ever come across.
